Trans-Atlantic Mako!

The Guy Harvey Great Shark Race loses a 3rd racing mako (out of 11) to fisheries. The shortfin mako “Bregardo Primary”, named after a school in the BVI, had crossed the Atlantic and appeared to be heading towards Africa when it unfortunately got captured, and then landed in Spain – see red dot in video. Video shows the tracks of 3 race makos sponsored by Virgin Unite. Losing 27% of the racers may be an indication of the intensive fishing pressure these animals are facing. The race can be followed on: www.ghritracking.org. Select Project 17. Fingers crossed the remaining 8 makos don’t face the same fate.
