ROFFS™ client Rob Reilly on the "Side Piece" fishing the Ed Dwyer Other Side Tournament on a Walker's Cay analysis. "after an exam of your chart we picked a spot that looked best to us and headed for it. With very rough conditions we made our 100 nm mile trip in about 4.5 hours. The chart was dead on with where the temp break was. After a short time fishing we got our first two bites, it was a double header on blue marlin. We landed one out of the two. After that we came across a whale shark hanging out in the cooler waters of the eddy, he was covered up in tuna we landed 4 big eyes, 3 black fins, and a yellow fin off him before losing sight of him. We finished the day out on the single bird pack we found all day. We went 2 for 4 on 80 lb. class yellowfin tunas, a half dozen mahi and released a white marlin. We finished in 2nd place with a 85 lb. yellowfin and 1st in the billfish release division. Your SST put us on them." Congrats guys!

Well the damn sw wind that has plagued us for days finally quit and I took Shawn Malloy and crew out to catch the elusive isurus oxyrincus or the short finned mako shark. They did catch a very nice 73" beauty that was around 150 lb. Wierdest mako I have ever seen. He swam right up to my mako magnet and spent 10 minutes swimming around the boat while I rigged a drop rod and fed him a mackerel which he promptly devoured. I let him swim away from the boat so when I struck him he wouldn't jump in the boat. So, I set the hook and....NOTHING! He just swam around as if nothing happened. So I hit him again,NOTHING! No runs, no jumps, NOTHING! So, we grabbed the leader since there was only 6 feet of line out, and when he came up, BOOM! The .357 magnum spoke and that was the end. How do ya figure? I dunno but a bit later about an 8 foot brown shark pretty much cleaned Shawn's clock before we released the beast at the boat. Crazy day. 54 degree water when I came out of GE inlet. 73 offshore.
Tuna Fever with Capt. Billy Maxwell putting some nice yellowfins on the dock.

ROFFS™ Client Keith Toepfer (Top Shelf), from Gulfport MS last weekend, thank you for feedback and sharing your photo! “Caught this marlin last Sunday open water temperature change line SW of South Pass. Could not have done it without the ROFFS™ and the trusty surface temp gauge.”
From Captain John Raguso (ROFFS™ client): "Had one of the best "away" shark charters ever aboard Capt. Joe LaFace's Hampton Bays charter boat Jo-Deene at the 21st Annual Wally & Doug Oakland's Memorial Shark Tournament on June 27th out of Shinnecock Inlet. Joining us was his son Capt. Jo-Jo, one of NYPD's finest. We headed out to some clean 65-degree water SW of Montauk that seemed like the place to go, courtesy of sea surface sat charts from ROFFS™. Had a 125-mako as soon as we dropped in and released it after a short fight, looking for bigger game. A thresher came calling about 10-minutes later and gobbled up a fresh bunker bait on a mighty-mite Penn 16VSX outfit spooled with 600-yards of hi-vis yellow 65-lb TUF-Line superbraid. The fight was on and after about 1.5-hours of pulling 22-lbs of strike drag, the sweet little 16 put another big shark notch in her reel seat with Jo-Jo slugging it out and besting the big whiptail. We were able to drag her tail first into the Grady Canyon 271's cockpit via the wave gate and headed home early, getting back to Oakland's at 11am. This 341-lb Thresher was the tournament's biggest fish and took home first prize and a bunch of the calcutta. Capt. Joe and Capt. Jo-Jo are great folks and their Grady is totally tricked out for their inshore charters specialty...and obviously offshore charters now too! Thanks for the invitation guys, it was a pleasure to introduce you both to the joys of the lite-tackle, big game, sport fishing experience."

ROFFS™ Client Chad Knoerr (King Maker) had a great day fishing offshore Tampa FL. "Thanks again for the Tampa Offshore report. We used your report to put Wahoo and Dolphin in the boat. But the day maker was raising our targeted species, Blue Marlin. I've been after them since last fall and we raised one got him to eat and came tight yesterday. He did shake the hook bit that’s how it goes. Here's a few pics to help confirm your 3 day hot spot was alive with Whales, Wahoo, Dolphin, Skip Jack, and Blue Marlin."
