Hurricane Odile, the most intense tropical cyclone to hit the Baja California Peninsula, made landfall, striking Cabo San Lucas on September 13, 2014. Norma was the worst hurricane to hit the peninsula since Odile. Bisbee’s Team was here for both!

With storm warnings ricocheting across the internet, the large Fleet of participating boats scattered! Approximately one-third of the Fleet headed for Magdalena Bay, with an equal number traveling to La Paz Harbor. A few went farther north into the Sea of Cortez, and the rest remained in Cabo San Lucas.

While information regarding the three Bisbee Fleet’s success in avoiding the brunt of Norma’s fury remains unknown, according to reports, the La Paz area sustained the worst damage. Several boats were sunk in the channel. However, as far as we can confirm, none of the Bisbee participants experienced severe damage.

Since Norma left the building, the Bisbee Team has been setting up the Sponsors’ tents and weigh station again – for the second time. And more good news is that effective this morning, Port Captain Alberto Valerio Verduzco announced he has reopened the port.

Registration is TODAY and fishing starts TOMORROW!

Above: ROFFS™ client – Team EL MEXICANO, with Angler Adrian Ponce de Leon on board the “EL MEXICANO,” landed a 461-pound Blue Marlin on the Third Day. This earned him and his team, Angler Adrian Glief Cervantes and Angler Francisco Garcia Rodrigues, the highest amount of the 2022 Bisbee’s Black & Blue event, $3,263,700.
