Gulf Stream Water Hits the Baltimore Canyon to Washington Canyon Areas

March 9, 2016 – A relatively small, counter-clockwise eddy has formed along the western side of a Gulf Stream meander and is pulling 65°-67°F blue water over the Baltimore Canyon to Washington Canyon. This is another reminder that the fishing season off New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland could start at any time now. While be believe that this feature will be short lived in these canyons, this water is headed to the eddy over the Hydrographer Canyon suggesting that more warm water and fish will be in that much larger, clockwise rotating eddy later this week or early next week.
