Charleston’s 25th Carolina Billfish Classic is just days away, and the best offshore anglers on the East Coast and Gulf Coast are gearing up for the June 21st – 24th event. Blue Sky was last year’s winner and also winner of the event in 2021, 2020, 2019, and 2018 of this Charleston event and the South Carolina Governors Cup Series. They will return to defend their title. Charleston Billfish Classic is a part of the South Carolina’s Governors Cup Series. So far this year, Sportin’ Life holds the 2023 lead in the series with a great performance in the recent Bohicket Marina Invitational Billfish Tournament. The Sportin’ Life has a long legacy with the Governor’s Cup Series, one that now spans three generations, and three series wins (1994, 2001, 2016).
The actual fishing days will be from Thursday, June 22nd thru Saturday, June 24th, with boats competing for a maximum of 2 days. Fishing hours will be from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm each fishing day.
This event will kick off at the Charleston Harbor Marina for the 4-day event. The weigh-ins will be live-streamed and can be accessed on the Carolina Billfish Classic website. The event will have seven live music acts, meals every evening, including 25th Anniversary special prizes. It’s the offshore event of the season. If you can’t fish it, don’t miss it. It promises to be a weekend to remember!
