New Boat Report: Everglades 235cc
Everglades introduced the 230cc in 2007 and rebranded it in 2018 as the 235cc after making changes to the deck layout. With more than 400 of those boats on the water, the Florida-based builder decided it was time for a significant makeover.
“The goal of the redesign was to make a popular model even better,” director of marketing Shane Kwaterski says. “The new 235 will be extremely versatile, whether you’re fishing, cruising, diving or water-skiing.”
The only thing that remains unchanged is the 25-foot unsinkable hull, with its variable-deadrise bottom (19 degrees at the transom). Standard power is a 300-hp Yamaha F300, which brings the boat’s total weight to 6,345 pounds, ready to run. Performance is expected to mirror the original 235cc: a top end in the mid-40-mph range and a cruise speed of 33 mph at 4,000 rpm, burning about 12.8 gph.
“We changed just about everything else,” Kwaterski says. “It is now the only production 23 that comes with a standard port-side utility door for boarding, swimming, diving and to aid in landing big fish. It also sports a full-beam, fold-away transom seat and patent-pending swiveling helm seating that can be used as a mezzanine or leaning post with bolsters.”
The boat is loaded with standard features and creature comforts. The bow has twin forward-facing lounges with removable backrests and stowage beneath. A two-person seat with folding armrests is built into the forward part of the console, which contains the head compartment.
Fishing features include a rigging station with tackle stowage and drawers, and a 17-gallon transom live well. Anglers can fly kites or slow-troll baits from one of six transom rod holders. There’s an insulated cooler compartment to port and an insulated fishbox with pumpout forward. There are 18 stainless rod holders, as well as under-gunwale rod stowage. Padded coaming bolsters surround most of the interior, and fresh- and raw-water washdown systems are standard.
A fiberglass hardtop is standard and includes PFD stowage, powder-coated aluminum supports, LED lighting, spreader lights, an electronics box and rod holders.
