Seakeeper Expands its Staff and Support Worldwide

Seakeeper, the world leader in marine stabilization, is expanding at an unprecedented rate. Fresh off the heels of releasing its state-of-the-art Seakeeper 3DC, the company announces an expanded sales and service staff, additional certified service and installation centers around the globe, and a new location for the company’s Florida office.
To further enhance global sales support, additional representative positions were added. Maryland-based Bryan Billic joins Seakeeper as the Northeast & Great Lakes sales representative. Brady Atwater has been hired to better support retrofits in the Southeast and Gulf region and will be located in Fort Lauderdale.
2014 saw a 46% increase in shipments of gyros over the previous year. To uphold Seakeeper’s commitment to providing its customers with top-notch service and technical support, the company has added several field service positions globally. Fabrizio Scardamaglio joins the team in Italy as a field service representative and James Callis supports the UK in the same role. Seakeeper veteran David McLean was promoted to service supervisor for the Europe and Middle East regions. At its Florida location, additional service techs Michael Cole and Matthew Gilligan were added.

Globalstar, Inc. and its subsidiary SPOT LLC will be showcasing their affordable satellite communications solutions for the marine market at the upcoming Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, November 5 – 9, 2015. Douglas Snider of Pensacola, Florida will be at the booth on November 5 and 6 to share his reliance on SPOT since the device saved him and three other crew members after nearly capsizing during extreme, unpredictable weather conditions.
Satellite technology is essential in today’s marine world, where cell service often becomes patchy or unavailable. Letter to the Editor: Online Encyclopedias and Fish Pain
Dear Editor:
Those who use online encyclopedias will tell you they are not always the most reliable sources of information. A recent case in point is the Wikipedia page on “Pain in Fish”. It seems in recent months wholesale “updates” of the page have been undertaken by certain editors, some of whom describe themselves as “passionate about animal welfare”. Not surprisingly, the same editors have been previously banned from other topics on Wikipedia for infringement of editorial guidelines. It still seems they are allowed to edit in other areas so predictably, these editors have removed key scientific information and references which bring into considerable doubt the ability of fish to “feel pain”, substituting “pro pain” messages into what was once a reasonably balanced and informative source of information on this controversial topic. It seems the same editors have also been active altering pages on pain in crustaceans and invertebrates, rewriting the history of science on these topics as they attempt to sway public opinion.
