ROFFS FISHERIES OCEANOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS FOR THE CABO SAN LUCAS OFFSHORE AREA (LAT./LONG.)

Based on a multiple factor analysis, the symbols (hot spot dots) mark the areas where bait concentrations are expected and where
fishing action is expected to be better compared with other (non-marked) areas. These are not based on dock rumors or hearsay fishing
reports. Fishing reports are stated as such. You should start fishing where you recognize other signs of good fishing conditions near
these marked areas. It is very important to use your sea surface temperature (sst°) gauge to locate the boundaries of the water masses,
which are outlined. Rather than trying to find water based on the absolute temperature values shown on the map, search for the relative
change in sst where the water mass boundaries occur. Arrows indicate the main current direction. Numbers inside of the dots indicate
the number of consecutive days that have seen favorable conditions over that area.
We are able to observe the ocean conditions in this area relatively clearly today using imagery from this morning. Overall, we continue
to observe the westward push of warmer blue 75.3°F-80.3°F water moving toward Cabo San Lucas inshore of 550 meter depths
providing your better overall chances for fishing action where it forms a strong warmer to cooler boundary zone with cooler green to
blue green 71.2°F-72.9°F water, especially where favorable conditions have remained stable for 2-3 days south and southeast of Cabo
San Lucas. West of Cabo San Lucas, we also continue to observe the southward offshore push of green to blue green 68.1°F-71.2°F
coastal water over San Jaime bank to offshore of the 1500 meter depths. Offshore motion of the water suggests slow and scattered
fishing action will occur.
With this in mind, the ocean conditions suggest good chances for fishing action will occur south and southeast of Cabo San Lucas
along a warmer to cooler blue to green 75.3°F-72.9°F boundary zone has remained stable for 2-3 days near 110°00’W & 22°50’N,
109°53’W & 22°47’N, and eastward over the 95 Spot near 109°44’W & 22°48’N (stable for 3 days), and just inshore of 95 Spot near
109°46’W & 22°53’N (stable for 2 days). If you find that the fishing is not productive, we suggest you continue further east and fish the
southern edge of the blue 80.3°F water where it lies between 200-550 meters near 109°30’W & 22°57’N, over the 1000 meter curve
near 109°22’W & 22°50’N (stable for 3 days), and over the good bottom of Cabrillo Seamount near 109°14’W & 22°48’N.
The ocean conditions west of Cabo San Lucas suggest slow and scattered fishing action is to be expected. However, a blended blue to
green 72.9°F-68.1°F boundary zone should provide additional chances for fishing action where it lies near 110°09’W & 22°50’N,
110°14’W & 22°47’N, and near 110°10’W & 22°11’N.
